toran complete

as you know I've been involved in a round robin swap with fellow ATASDA members making pieces for our individual torans. I've shown a couple of pieces I've made for others on here previously. well....mine is now complete so I thought I would share a photo of it. I love it! beautiful birds, gorgeous colours, wonderful interpretations of my theme - the Clarence Valley where I live, the river and birds. I've sent it off to a fellow group member today who is kindly going to take it to Orange for me where it will be exhibited when the TAFTA forum is on. if you are in Orange around the 11-17th April you could drop in and have a look at them all exhibited together - I'm sure they will look fantastic!

how much is that pussy cat in the window?

I'm starting to feel a little stretched - can't find five minutes to blog. at least holidays are coming soon and we can have a little rest and recuperation.....and maybe more time to blog! last saturday I did manage to drive to Ulmarra, a small village near my home, and talk to a new shop owner about stocking some of my things. next door is a gallery which was closed at the time but this pussy cat was looking very curiously at me as I tried to decide if she was for sale!!!

favourite flower

I shouldn't really say this is my favourite flower I guess - this is one of my favourites...I love lots of flowers. a bunch of any would be very nice thank you! I do have a special love for pansies though. they remind me of my grandad. I'm not sure where that memory comes from but it's there. I try to grow some every season and so does my Mum...hers are usually better than mine and seeing as she lives just next door they often make their way in to my house!

favourite things again

this time it's the colour red. it's been my favourite colour forever. my eye is attracted to it wherever I go and often features in photos I take...imagine walking the streets of Shanghai at new year's.....mmmm red everywhere. I was immediately attracted to Carolyn's blog Love Stitching Red...with a name like that how could I not?! I've joined a group on Flickr that features photos which are predominantly red. you can find it on my Flickr profile. I have lots of red objects in my home and I have a red lounge (it's called china red!), a red kilim we brought home from Turkey, lots of red fabric.....the list goes on. maybe I should do a blog entry on red in my home...

what's your favourite colour?

back again!

the computer is fixed again. actually it was fixed earlier this week but it's been busy, busy, busy at work and home so I couldn't find time to post here or even read others blogs this past week. hopefully things will settle down a little next week. I've been playing with photoshop this afternoon so here's a couple of the results. thinking these would look good printed out and used in some textile work. they were taken in the grand bazaar on our trip in 2008....I never tire of looking at these photos. so many memories and good times.
