bundles revealed

weathered photo and fabrics

nails peeping out from their bed - wake up!

some beautifully rusted lace

it's a little past the official reveal date but this morning I dug up, cut down, collected and revealed my erosion bundles......here are a few of the delights found inside. of the four bundles I made and placed in my yard one didn't quite make it. it was the one I buried in earth and I almost couldn't find it, but after a little digging I did find some bits and pieces. most of it though has completely eroded into the earth! I'm going to attempt to put lots of images up on a separate page (when I figure out how to do that) in the near future, but for now here are a few so you can see the changes....some really interesting things happen out there in my yard!

treasure hunting

out this morning treasure hunting in my local op shops...love it! found lots of goodies...these lovely handmade ceramic bowls for 20c each, pretty embroidered blouse for future projects, old kitchen knife/thingy (love the patina of old kitchen utensils), some curtain lace pieces, a bright sheet I will use to cover the chairs on my verandah which are becoming a bit worse for wear, books, some dvds, some clothes, old cutlery, magazines, a wooden thingy (not sure what it is but I like the shape and patina), and of course some buttons...I always come home with buttons from my op shop forays! luckily my son is at his father's today or I'd get the usual comment as I walk in the door laden with goodies..."and where are you going to put that crap mum?!!!"... they just don't understand!

bundle moments

the bundles have been made, tied up and placed around my yard for the erosion project. I had great fun getting all the bits and pieces ready to put in them....fabric, paper, laces, rusty bits, beads, tags, wire, muslin....now I can't wait til it's time to open them up again! here are some pics for you to see what's inside each one and a photo to show you where they ended up in my yard...one up a tree, one under a pile of leaves, one in the dirt and one just sitting on top of the dirt in the garden under a tree.

erosion bundle project

I was reading about this project yesterday on Love Stitching Red and thought I would join in as well. today I will make my bundles and hang, bury, submerge or place my bundles in my yard. I did this on my own a couple of years ago with some fabric but as yet haven't made anything with it....being part of a group always spurs me on to finish things. I think I will make my bundles mixed media this time...and it's raining today so a good start! the link to the blog is on the right.

studio moments

last week I spent six lovely days in my studio (that sounds a bit presumptuous given the mess in there!) printing fabrics, dyeing, playing, dancing to music, discharge dyeing, stamping, stitching and generally having fun creating whatever took my fancy. I plan to work on some art quilts for exhibitions in 2010 and this is the beginning. here are some of the results...
