there's much on the horizon. a big trip to plan, work to complete, photos to take, things to create

you can keep up to date with me on instagram...I'm still posting there daily. and it's so much fun. just passed 200 days!

I will be back, but for now I'm floating past....

absent

hello. I've been absent from here for such a long time. why? I'm not really sure. I look at my blog every day - it's my home page after all - and think I must write something or post a few pictures, but don't. is it the lure of instagram and Facebook which are so immediate and a quick fix? ...maybe. will my blog continue? at this point in time I can't really answer that. I waiver from yes it must go on, to no it's had it's day, time to move on.....

for now I'm still here but there's so much to do and fit in to every day. and that's a good thing. lots of creativity, lots of inspiration, lots of fun. good things. 

I'm feeling so inspired by photography at the moment. it's a passion I've always had. my new camera and gear are steering me in new directions. there's so much to explore and it's so much fun.

a little photography

today I've been inside playing around with photos when I should have been elsewhere taking photos on another photography weekend adventure. but the rain (again) put a stop to that. at least I've seen a little sun today and had time to play in Lightroom and Photoshop. this effort is for Kim Klassen's Beyond Beyond year long course I'm doing. I think I'm becoming a Kim groupie.....love her way of teaching and inspirations.

new tools

last post I told you about the new camera. here's another little snapshot.....I am really loving this camera. so much to explore, so many photos to take!

and I now have another new toy oops! tool. I needed to buy a new laptop - my old one was slowly and painfully dying. so last weekend we went shopping. I came home with a desktop rather than a laptop....change number one. I have always used a pc - always. period. I came home with a mac....I didn't go with the intention to buy a mac. I was going to buy another pc. but oh my goodness....one look at the iMac and I was gone....big time!

lovely large screen, amazing clarity, great workhorse for photography.

but using a mac is somewhat different to using a pc - obviously! it's not like getting out of a holden and hopping into a ford and off you drive. no. I have spent the week finding my way around and gazing at the lovely BIG screen...and the clarity of my photos....anyway it's taken quite a few days to sort through resizing photos so I can post here. not sure if I've got it right but there's a photo up there! that's a start!

blogger is doing funny things with my settings at the moment and all my side bar is now down the bottom......grrrr. why does it take so much time trying to fix things......grrrr?

new phone moments

I have a new toy...........it's my HTC Desire phone, and I love it....it takes great photos for when you don't want to carry your bigger camera around. and the apps.......oh what fun! these photos are from the little photo app. lots of great stuff like filters and effects to play with a photo after you've taken it. this one is of one of our cats asleep on the lounge.

and this is my son in the doorway..........very dark and moody!

and there are some great apps to use when you are away from home. we have just been to brisbane for a couple of days and I could find all sorts of things right there on my phone, important thing like......where the nearest coffee shop was, the ATM (73 ft that way!), where to find art supplies, bookshops......and maps to get directions. how great is all that?! I know some of you have had this at your finger tips for ages now and I'm just catching up......but gee I'm glad I did!

summer moments

the weather here has been so hot lately. my garden is looking very shabby because I haven't weeded for weeks...and until it cools down a bit it's not likely to happen any moment soon! in admist the weeds though are some treasures like these beautiful artichokes I planted over two years ago. they have only beared fruit this year and I can't say I'm impressed with eating fresh artichokes (but I love marinated ones) but oh! the flowers...how gorgeous!

holiday moments

it's just wonderful being on holidays. having time to take photos, clean up piles of paperwork etc that has been growing for days...weeks...months!, read other people's blogs, eat peanut butter on saos..yummy!

I found this beautiful moth on my verandah this morning. and the dandelion I snapped as I left work at the end of the last week. I love my camera...it takes great close-ups.
