tuesday travels
so tuesdays during blogtober will be about one of my favourite things to do - travel. for those of you who have been reading here for a while you will know that I love to travel with my son to far flung places, and we have been so fortunate to have adventured to some of the most wonderful places on our planet. but today's post is about somewhere a little closer to home as we travelled home from brisbane today - bangalow. for those of you who haven't been to our beautiful north coast of nsw, bangalow is just off the highway north of ballina and west of byron bay. it's also south of brunswick heads and east of bexhill........do you think that our early explorers had a thing for 'b'?!
so we stopped in here for a coffee on our way home today and explored some of the gorgeous shops. we probably need to go back sometime soon.....this is the second time in the last couple of months we have stopped here and there is so much to see.....lovely coffee and food, interesting art, intriguing fashions and great craft. if you're around this area make sure you drop in and explore.
keeping up it blogtober.......things are looking good!

time
time is so hard to find at the moment...especially time to blog. ahhh. we are planning a trip to Nepal and India later this year and every available moment is spent researching. we are travelling with dear friends and one of them has had some health concerns over recent months so our plans have fluctuated over the months. now it seems that things are looking good and planning is full steam ahead. my excitement is building. I love travelling - as those who have read my other blog will know. lots of the excitement comes from planning and organising but also from going into the unkown. I'm finding it hard to concentrate on other things at times as I immerse myself in reading about Nepal and India....these birds were inspired by the colours of India for a member of my Passages group toran.

back again!

the computer is fixed again. actually it was fixed earlier this week but it's been busy, busy, busy at work and home so I couldn't find time to post here or even read others blogs this past week. hopefully things will settle down a little next week. I've been playing with photoshop this afternoon so here's a couple of the results. thinking these would look good printed out and used in some textile work. they were taken in the grand bazaar on our trip in 2008....I never tire of looking at these photos. so many memories and good times.Sunday, January 10, 2010
a moment to pause
yesterday after my early morning jaunt in the garden I went to my friend's place for a quick coffee and catch-up....and left many hours later in the afternoon! we had a lovely time chatting, eating, drinking coffee, looking at photos, reminiscing about past travel moments (together and separately), discussing the coming year and just enjoying each other's company. it was a lovely pause in what has been a busy time recently. thanks for a great day Rob!

moments in Cornwall

after four weeks of non-stop travelling throughout Europe last year we arrived in the Cornish village of Nelwyn to stay for a whole week - bliss! this was probably the most favourite part of our trip and we rented a beautiful cottage called Cresta House. the cottage is beautifully presented with all the conveniences you need and more. our lovely host Samantha had left a delicious Cornish tea for us on our arrival.....yummy! oh for some clotted cornish cream today! my grandfather was from Cornwall and I guess that's part of the affinity I feel for this part of the UK. we relished the fresh seafood available in the village daily, wandered the tiny streets each day, bought locally at the supermarket, had coffee in the cafes, gazed at St Michael's Mount in the distance past Penzance, talked to the fishermen down on the wharf, strolled the beaches, and watched the comings and goings of the Newlyn fishing fleet from our lounge room and bedroom windows...some days I spent hours just doing that! I have loads of photos from this part of the world and here is just a small taste of them. we hope to return some day soon but in the meantime I can still watch the harbour at Laurence Hartwell's blog Through the gaps! thanks Laurence.Thursday, October 29, 2009
