pretty sure I've shown you these blocks before but I've been taking some snapshots around my house so thought I'd give you another peek. love painting on these old and well worn children's blocks. I wonder how many little imaginations have been inspired by playing with these.....they have been used by my son and my sister's daughters and grandchildren and countless other little visitors to our homes. what stories they could tell. and the little birds? we found those in a shop in Varanasi....another treasured memory

pink

pink is such a great colour don't you think. whether it's full blown hot pink or soft and dreamy pale pink, it looks great in so many places and evokes many emotions. my favourite colour combination is hot pink and luscious red......lovely!

rainy days

it's been a very wet and rainy start to the year. if you look closely enough nature provides some lovely photo opportunities after the rain. a little play with colour adjustments and image editing and the world becomes quite surreal.

new tools

last post I told you about the new camera. here's another little snapshot.....I am really loving this camera. so much to explore, so many photos to take!

and I now have another new toy oops! tool. I needed to buy a new laptop - my old one was slowly and painfully dying. so last weekend we went shopping. I came home with a desktop rather than a laptop....change number one. I have always used a pc - always. period. I came home with a mac....I didn't go with the intention to buy a mac. I was going to buy another pc. but oh my goodness....one look at the iMac and I was gone....big time!

lovely large screen, amazing clarity, great workhorse for photography.

but using a mac is somewhat different to using a pc - obviously! it's not like getting out of a holden and hopping into a ford and off you drive. no. I have spent the week finding my way around and gazing at the lovely BIG screen...and the clarity of my photos....anyway it's taken quite a few days to sort through resizing photos so I can post here. not sure if I've got it right but there's a photo up there! that's a start!

I bought myself a new camera a couple of weeks ago....and I am smitten! it's a Canon 7D with a 17-55mm lens and I have been slowly exploring all it's features. there is so much to learn even for someone who has been using cameras for a very long time....

here are just a few early shots. I can see lots of fun coming up here.......

questions

last week I started a new e-course with Kelly Rae Roberts and Beth Nicholls called Hello Soul. Hello Business

it looks at business in a whole new way and asks many questions about how we think about our business, why we do what we do, who we want to do it with and so on. the input from fellow class members is great and comments pose lots more questions and ideas.

I've had a couple of aha moments over the past week and feel a little all over the shop but am really hopeful that this course is heading me in the right direction with where I want to be in the future......stayed tuned!



hello 2012

hello 2012. I'm back from my little blog holiday (which I didn't realise I was going to have but life got in the way!)....hope that 2012 has started in a wonderful way for you.

 can you guess what I've been up to these past weeks? yep......up to my ears in sorting, washing, photographing, cutting, ironing...getting lots of goodies organised for Magpie Finds

 I have been collecting "stuff" for so long now and it's taken me ages to sort through it all and prepare it all so it's bright and shiny ready to go out in the world.

but I haven't been ignoring the rest of the world. I've been doing lots of blog reading, spending my holidays indulging in beautiful images, going to concerts, planning and dreaming for 2012,  and generally refreshing my batteries....lots to tell but that might wait til next time. x
