new blog look

as you might have guessed from previous posts things are changing here. I've added a page with my artist's statement (just look up there near the header) and yes I've changed the header as well. I've had my old one since I started my blog so it was high time for a change. what do you think......?
I intend to add some more pages soon...I'm looking at selling via my blog as well and it will be something that is only available here....stayed tuned!

sketchbook challenge

I've still been working on my sketchbook challenge pages. this month's theme is opposites....this one was inspired by some colour studies that Jane Davies showed on the challenge blog and her own blog. red and green are opposites on the colour wheel. this has been collaged and painted.
and this one is called 'Glory Days' ....because I was listening to Bruce Springsteen whilst playing with the paint, stencils, etc. (I'm a Springsteen fan from waaaay back!). it started life as a brown envelope. I threw paint over it, stencilled some numbers and letters on it, then cut it up and pasted it into my sketchbook. then I worked it a bit more with rub-on letters and numbers and a little stamping, and added a tag I'd made whilst working on the envelope. you can check out my Flickr pages for more....

journal moments

I bought some moleskins when I was in Sydney recently. they have lovely grid paper in them and I have been mostly collaging in them...just bits of paper that come through my house and hands each day...pay slip ends, pretty japanese origami paper, messages, shopping lists, product labels, envelopes, leftover scraps os paper from other projects, wine catalogues, napkins, airline tickets, bar codes. I love bar codes...in fact I'm going to start a new one just for bar codes! and there's some drawing as well. a great way to store all the bits and pieces I can't bear to throw away....here's a few pages from the one I'm currently using.
