stackoholics anonymous

over at Seth Apter's wonderful blog The Altered Page are some great links to Seth's Paper Stack Project. artists and bloggers were invited to submit photos of the stacks we have in our studios. so here are some of my stacks (I'm a little late posting but never mind!) ...there are always lots of stacks at my place...
old books on the ironing board waiting to be reused as journals, collage, tags....too bad about the ironing!! this is just a small stack of old books I have...can't stop finding lovely interesting old books...and of course I have to bring them home...
a close-up of stacks of paper and books on the bookcase...
stacks of old music scores...I love these and found some huge stacks in an op shop a while back for a really good price...couldn't get out the door quick enough with them before the ladies changed their mind on the price!

and a close-up of the music scores - aren't they gorgeous? I think this would work well as a texture for digital art..
so these are my stacks for today. I actually took more photos of other types of stacks but might show you these on another day.
don't forget to pop over to Seth's blog to check out all the other artists participating in this project - there are some wonderful stacks to behold....!

50 years

yesterday I attended the 50th anniversary celebrations of my old high school - Maclean High School. we had a lot of fun catching up with old friends and staff. I have also taught at this high school as an art teacher and earlier this year was back again for a period of time as the school counsellor. yesterday I felt such a connection to the history of the place...lovely!
catching up with old mates
the bagpipe player's legs.... who was also in my year group at school.....Ross piped us into the school hall with our scottish school song. Maclean is a 'scottish town in Australia' and there are many references to it's scottish heritage.
it was a lovely day topped off with a dinner last night catching up with more friends and colleagues.

my creative space

old wooden children's blocks are finding new life painted and drawn with words and pictures....I love that these blocks which have been played with for hours are now becoming little works of art

new blog look

as you might have guessed from previous posts things are changing here. I've added a page with my artist's statement (just look up there near the header) and yes I've changed the header as well. I've had my old one since I started my blog so it was high time for a change. what do you think......?
I intend to add some more pages soon...I'm looking at selling via my blog as well and it will be something that is only available here....stayed tuned!

in the shop

these are new in the shop - just listed!

the first two here are made by free motion embroidery - which mostly takes hours and hours of stitching.....then they are made up in to little purses of various sizes. the top one is a coin purse and the bottm one is big enough to put your glasses in....or your money, jewellery, phone, ipod, makeup, bibs and bobs.....
and this one is made from handpainted fabric with a little quilting and stitching.
all purses are lined and made to last. I have about three I carry in my handbag all the time to carry my sunglassess, reading glasses and ipod. they get thron around and are wearing great.
