my creative space

old wooden children's blocks are finding new life painted and drawn with words and pictures....I love that these blocks which have been played with for hours are now becoming little works of art

how much is that pussy cat in the window?

I'm starting to feel a little stretched - can't find five minutes to blog. at least holidays are coming soon and we can have a little rest and recuperation.....and maybe more time to blog! last saturday I did manage to drive to Ulmarra, a small village near my home, and talk to a new shop owner about stocking some of my things. next door is a gallery which was closed at the time but this pussy cat was looking very curiously at me as I tried to decide if she was for sale!!!

cat moments in europe

we will be away for the next few days...heading to brisbane for some family time. meanwhile here are some cats we saw whilst travelling last year...we seemed to see cats wherever we went...from a cat on every corner, street and doorstep in Istanbul to the odd cat in Belgium. so our trip souvenirs took on a distinct cat theme! we even found a cute shop in Prague called the Cat Gallery - with all things for sale featuring cats of course! the sleepy ones are Cornish mousers who had worked all night we were told...so don't disturb them because they are cranky!!

a cat moment

sally greets the day. my aunty thinks she was a little girl in her last life. I think Sally holds with the theory that "thousands of years ago cats were worshipped as gods. cats have never forgotten this" (unknown); and "you can keep a dog; but it is the cat who keeps people, because cats find humans useful domestic animals." (George Mikes).
I also love these quotes about cats...."when you are looking, a cat acts like a princess, but the minute they think you are not looking, a cat acts like a fool." (K.C. Buffington); "Time spent with cats is never wasted." (Colette)
a lovely poem
"Before a cat will condescend
To treat you as a trusted friend,
Some little token of esteem
Is needed, like a dish of cream." T.S. Eliot
and this is my favourite...
"I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul." (Jean Cocteau)
